Sanguina (2023)

“I don’t know if you’ll remember me, but I’ve been waiting for you all my life.”

Fantasy, Sapphic, a tale of battling one's preordained fate and discovering oneself.

The story of “Sanguina” begins in a museum, with a girl observing a painting of unknown authorship. Immersed in the painting, she notices company. The mysterious yet familiar woman begins to open up and, through her memories, we are transported to a blurry past, as if it were a story.

Legend has it that in a somewhat remote valley, surrounded by mountains, the chosen knight knight and a dragon fell in love. However, in a last attempt to please his people, who repudiated this relationship, he killed the dragon that supposedly tormented the habitants. The dragon, guided by hatred and betrayal, caused the knight and all the inhabitants to die and roses as red as blood to grow from their hearts.

The scaly creature disappeared from the face of the earth to heal her broken heart.

Years later, a knight with hair as red as the petals of those roses would be sent to try to find this creature and put an end to the curse that began many hundreds of years ago; if the knight was killed instead of the dragon, the same thing that happened to Jordi and the three other knights who came after him would happen again. However, they find themselves embarking on a journey together to resolve the mystery that is this strange force that compells them to repeat history again and again, just like a fairytale.

What neither of them expect is that both Lilith, drowning in her loneliness and pain, and in search of forgiveness, and Joana, who never wanted to be a knight, martyred by gender roles, doubtful about her duty and who it really benefits In this case, will find in each other the warmth that they have been longing for for so long, demonstrating that forgiveness is essential and that love really is what makes us human, as well as fighting against the status quo.
